P a t u n a y a n g nakatakdang ‘Women in Sports International Summit’ sa September bago ang SEAG sa Nov. 30 hanggang Dec. 11.

“Women leaders from Southeast Asian nations will all be here to attend the summit. It’s called “A Seat at the Table: Building a Culture of Equal Opportunity,” pahayag ni SEA Federation of Women in Sports chairperson Karen Tanchanco-Caballero sa kanyang pagbisita sa “Usapang Sports” ng Tabloid Organization in Philippine Sports (TOPS) kamakailan sa National Press Club sa Intramuros.

“It will be a prelude to the SEA Games, which we are definitely hosting in the country this year,” pahayag ni Tanchanco- Caballero, pangulo rin ng sepak takrtaw federation, kasama sina Ada Milby ng rugby football at Bea Tan ng beach volleyball in the weekly sports forum supported by the PSC and NPC.

'I really love you kuya!' Tapatang Pacquiao brothers, ekis mangyari!

“This is a significant step in acknowledging the hard work of women in sports. We have worked very hard to gain acceptance and recognition as equals,” aniya.

Kinatigan ni Milby, secretary-general ng Philippine Rugby Fotball Union (PRFU), ang naging pananaw ni Caballero.

“The reality is we want balance and diversity in all of our programs. It’s not about women over taking anything,” sambit ni Milby, kauna-unahang Pinay na nahalal na miyembro ng World Rugby Council noong 2017.

“It’s about making sure that women are included in all decisions from board room, playing field, indoor court or beach court. We just want to be involved,” sambit ni Milby.

“Karen and I both sit on the Women in Sports Commission. We share the same goal of supporting the development of women’s skills in management and leadership,” aniya.

Umaasa si Milby na magkakaroon din siya nang regular na ugnayan sa POC at sa sepak takraw .“That’s the same goal we have in rugby -- have 50 percent male and 50 female teams. It’s fantastic,” aniya.

Sinangayunan naman ang idea ni Tan.

“In the BVR on Tour, we promote both men and women’s tournaments. We have already invited 24 teams — 12 men and 12 women-- for our coming tournaments in Dumaguete on April 26-27 and Lingayen on April 30 -May 1,” sambit ni Tan, miyembro ng Ateneo sa college days.
