DADALHIN ng Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) sa Maynila sa Abril ang First Cut Lab para hikayatin ang Filipino filmmakers na paunlarin at itaas ang antas ng mga pelikula at mga kuwento, ayon sa international standards.

Ang First Cut ay international project development at editing lab na nakatuon sa pagre-refine ng long feature fiction films na nasa editing phase at may potensiyal na lampasan ang global borders. Sa ikalima nitong taon, marami nang natulungan ang First Cut sa pagde-develop ng film projects mula sa iba’t ibang bansa, tulad ng Slovenia, Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, at Russia. Marami rito ang nag-premiere sa A-list film festivals, gaya ng Toronto, Berlinale, at Cannes.

Dalawang Filipino films projects na nasa post-production stage ang sasailalim sa screen test at progress at direction assessment, samantalang anim hanggang walong projects in development naman ang dadaan sa intensive four-day project development workshop na nakatuon sa script at production.

Ang deadline for submission of entries ay sa Marso 11, 2019.

Magkakaroon ng three-day film conference sa Lab, na bukas sa publiko, para i-maximize ang opportunity ng filmmakers na matutuhan ang mahahalagang insights mula sa international mentors, at bigyan sila ng inspirasyon na mag-develop ng projects nang mas masinsinan at mas maingat para masiguro ang kalidad ng kanilang output.

Ilan sa workshop sessions na gaganapin ay ang Script Development, PH Context: Armi and Carlo with Their Journey from Torino to Cinema du Monde, Creative Producing, at How to Put Together a Project Brief for International Submission.

Magsasagawa ng series of lectures ang world-class mentors, kabilang ang co-producing with Europe at film distributor na si Giovanni Pompili mula sa Italy; ang distributor ng non-European films in Europe na si Izabela Igel mula sa Poland; ang producer, broadcast and development executive mula sa South Africa na si Mmabatho Kau; at dating TorinoFilmLab artistic director na si Matthieu Darras mula sa France.
