Tinapos ng Kamara ang deliberasyon ng panukalang budget ng Department of Science and Technology (DOST) na nagkakahalaga ng P23.8 bilyon.
Itinaguyod ni House Committee on Appropriations Vice-Chairman at Muntinlupa City Rep. Rufino Rozzano Biazon sa plenaryo ang hinihinging budget ng DOST, na ang mandato ay “to provide central direction, leadership, and coordination of scientific and technological efforts and ensure that the results therefrom are geared and utilized in areas of maximum economic and social benefits for the people.”
Inihayag ng kongresista na kabilang sa mga inisyatiba ng DOST sa pagtugon sa COVID-19 ay ang pamumuno sa Technical Working Group (TWG) hinggil sa pagtuklas at development ng bakuna; pagkakaroon ng medical equipment, gaya ng local Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) machine, diagnostic kits; at maging ang design at development ng Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at iba pang gears.
