Q: Ano pa ba ang kayang i-offer ng isang Kris Aquino sa mga fans ngayon na hindi pa niya nagawa noon? Queen of All Media pa rin ba ang title na gusto mo ngayon?

Kris: “I don’t need the title ’coz I already know who I am. But ang kaya kong ibigay sa kanila, I think I’ve grown a lot wiser. I know na.

“Nakita ko kasi, eh. In the 2 and a half months na kami lang ang nasa Puerto Galera, nakita ko kung with my own eyes, and with our own experience. How important it is na every family is assured na hindi sila mauubusan ng pagkakakitaan, ng pag-asa, ng the very basics of life.

“So, there’s a part of me na ayoko ‘tong ma-feel ng mga tao na nanonood sila ng Sunday Mass or Sunday Worship, because your relationship with your God, I’m not going to force mine with you, but I’m going to show you, na kaya siguro nabibiyayaan ako, dahil kailangang maibahagi ko ‘yung mga blessings na ‘yun with all of you.

“So, this time around, the tiding that I will do will be done through the show. But I also want you to hear opinions, not just coming from me. Kasi, minsan, nagsasawa na rin ako sa boses ko.

“So, gusto ko na merong mga matapang na makakatapat ako na kaya rin akong barahin! Kasi, that’s the whole essence of what nation-building is all about.

“Para tayo magkaroon ng informed opinions in other words, ‘yung para ‘mema’ o ‘me masabi lang’… Kailangan, pakinggan natin all sides. So, ‘yun ang gusto kong mangyari.

“Pero gusto ko rin talagang na-miss ko na eh, I love music! And I want you to share with me what are your favorite songs are, and I want you to hear those songs, parang ‘Unplugged’, ‘yung mga nangyayari dati.

“Ang bata kasi ng Pilipinas, I’m sure hindi na ninyo naaalala ‘yung MTV na ‘Unplugged’ but I want that segment, and I want to hear. Kasi, merong popular na ang pinag-uusapan, ‘yung problema ng mga may asawa, mga awayan nila, ‘yung mga nangaliwa…

“Bigyan niyo naman ako ng pag-asa. Gusto kong mag-feature ng mga ‘Love against all odds’. ‘Yung mga nagkabalikan, ‘yung mga hanggang ngayon ay nagmamahalan.”

Q: Can you share your observations about how most Filipinos handled the lockdown?

Kris: “I can only share what happened sa amin. It was just the three of us, first time. So, we really love each other, but there are moments talagang hindi na rin kami nag-uusap.

“And you know, it’s not because we were in financial need, dahil alam kong napakasuwerte namin. So, ang inisip ko, I was trying to explain to my boys na , ‘You know, suwerte tayo ha? Pero dapat, hindi tayo. Let’s try na habaan natin ang pasensiya natin sa isa’t isa.

“And for most families, it can either bring you closer. Kasi, that’s when you value the lives of each other more. Or, it can break you apart.

“Kasi, unfortunately, marami rin akong kakilalang naghiwalay na dahil dito. So, I think, nangyari ito because gusto tayong patibayin. Gusto tayong turuan na ‘yung mga maliliit na mga bagay dati, we took forgranted. Ngayon dapat, mas bigyan natin ng halaga.

“I also believe that it showed us that we need to not live just for ourselves, but to live in order to help others. Kasi, parang ‘yun ang nawala?

“Hindi ko mabe-blame ha? Kasi, uunahin mo naman talaga ang sarili mo at ang pamilya mo. But, kailangan, ‘yung buong bansa. Kasi, kung hindi natin iisipin ‘yung kinabukasan, lalo na ‘yung mga…

“Kasi, meron akong anak na 13 years old, eh. I know he will outlive me. So, it’s very important that after what I saw, that we take care with those with less.”

Q: What do you miss most about hosting a TV show?

Kris: “Seeing new places. Especially because hindi pa puwede ngayon. But I have faith I have faith that we will travel again.

“I’ve been to the mall twice. And I really got really sad because so many of those restaurants in my previous incarnation, I featured them. Gustung-gusto kong makabangon ang mga restaurants, kasi, malapit sa puso ko ‘yun, eh.

“Gustung-gusto ko talaga na, although Bimby’s on home school, that’s not an adjustment for him. Pero, finally, na-convince ko kasi, eh, na mag-regular school, tapos, eto ‘yung nangyari.

“So, kung anuman ‘yung magiging new normal, sana, maging mas mapabilis. And sana ano. Ngayon ko na-realize also the great sacrifice ng binibigay ng health care workers. Because they give their lives in order for us to live.”

Q: What does your prayer contain these days?

Kris: “Ang kapal ko naman kung may hingin pa ako. So, all I do right now is I say ‘Thank you!’ And I start the day always with my worship playlist.

“That’s also my wish for the show. Kasi, ang lungkot that we’re not able to worship together. So, sana, pagbigyan ni’yo ko, ha? So, kahit na first stanza hanggang chorus lang…

“Kasi, merong mga 40 songs na favorite ko. Umasa talaga na 40 episodes ito. Haha! Pero Erickson knows this that I’ve long wanted to produce a worship album because we need to continue worshipping.

“Kasi, there’s a song with a phrase na ‘I’ll praise you in the storm.’ Kailangan, gano’n eh. Don’t give up hope. Don’t blame this on God. Because Siya lang ang pag-asa natin ngayon.”
