Kinasuhan na ang Katolikong pari na itinuturong suspek sa panggagahasa sa apat na taong gulang na babae sa Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.

Ito ang kinumpirma ng Cadiz City Police Office (CCPO)-Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD), at sinabing mismong ang mga magulang ng bata ang naghain ng kaso sa sala ni State Prosecutor Jane Dee Maderazo, ng Cadiz City Prosecutor’s Office.

Nabatid sa reports na ang biktima ay mag-aaral sa day care ng simbahan, at ang ina nito ay naninilbihan sa inaakusahang pari.

Napaulat na nakumpirma umano sa isinagawang medico-legal examinations sa paslit na positibong ginahasa ito.

Ayon sa pulisya, mariin nang itinanggi ng hindi pinangalanang pari ang akusasyon at tiniyak na hindi siya tatakas at handang harapin ang kaso.

Kaugnay nito, tinanggal na ang pari sa pinaglilingkuran nitong simbahan sa Cadiz, at pansamantalang pinalitan ng pari na nagmula sa San Carlos, Negros Occidental, batay sa utos ni Bishop Gerardo Alminaza ng nasabing bayan.

“I have assigned a priest to take over temporarily the shepherding of the parish concerned in order to give the accused time to spiritually prepare himself to face the allegations and to give way for an impartial investigation,” bahagi ng paliwanag ni Alminaza na ipinost sa website ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

"We are making it clear that we are not hiding the accused to protect him from charges.

“While we acknowledge the right of the accused to be presumed innocent until proven otherwise, we are steadfast to assist the victim and cooperate in the process so the truth will come out and justice is served.”

“We are proceeding with our own canonical process as dictated by Church laws by providing pastoral care to the accused while allowing the legal process to take its course,” dagdag pa ni Alminaza.
