TAGUM CITY – Kabuuang 1,200 medalya ang nakataya sa 20 events na paglalaban sa 2019 Batang Pinoy Mindanao Leg na sinimulan kahapon sa Davao del Norte Sports Complex dito.

Ayon kay Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman William Ramirez, may 3,000 atleta mula sa iba’t ibang Local Government Units sa Mindanao ang magtatagisan ng husay sa frassroots sprots program ng pamahalaan.

“I am extremely touched by the generosity of the Governor that even in a short time, he accepted our request to host the games,” pahayag ni Ramirez.

Ayon sa PSC chief, ang kompetisyon ay isang matibay na instrument upang maisulong kapayapaan at pagkakaisa sa Mindanao.

“Batang Pinoy is the center of Mindanao’s Sports for Peace,” ani Ramirez. “You know when a young child in the community, Indigenous, Muslims, Christians when nobody cares for these children, there is a possibility for them to do some dangerous acts in the community. That is why I encourage the principals, the teachers, the Department of Education and the Universal Schools to take good care of the children. Gaya ng sinabi ng ating Pangulong Duterte, ilapit natin ang mga bata sa sports,” aniya.

“This isn’t about championship. This is about goal. and the real goal is the children.”

Samantala, siniguro naman ng PSC na makakatanggap ng 15milyon pisong halaga ng sports equipments ang lalawigan ng Davao del Norte para magamit sa kanilang sports development program.
