Tinatawag niyang alternative basketball league ang CBA na bukas para sa lahat ng amateur Filipino basketball players mula sa iba’t ibang bayan at probinsiya.“Instead of doing indie movies, I focused with this one for now – the Community Basketball Association which I founded just a few months ago.
“The entertainment that we give this time to the people is basketball, a very popular sports among Filipinos.“My filmmaker friends have been looking for me, but I told them I’m venturing into sports for now since the indie scene is quite crowded.
S’yempre, tayo ang nag-start n’yan. Lumipat naman ako. I did live events, and this time, basketball.
“Basketball is entertainment for the family, it’s the number one sports in the country. So with me is my wife Derlyn (Maceda), we conceptualized this league. We have partners and consultants for marketing,” kuwento ni Carlo.
“Twelve teams will be introduced this Sunday. We started forming these teams around June last year, six months of conceptualization, marketing, getting company partners for sponsorships.“I’m so glad that IBC-13 gave us an airtime through Asian Television Content Corporation headed by Engr. Rey Sanchez,” aniya.
Ang basketball games ay isasagawa tuwing Sabado at Linggo, live over IBC-13.
“It’s something new for the fans of basketball, it’s an alternative one. As you can see, may kakulangan ng liga. Kasi, ang daming players ng UAAP, etcetera, pero after that, saan sila? Kaunti lang ang pumapasok sa PBA. “
Ano ang mission-vision ng CBA?“We want to help the communities in the whole country, to bring entertainment to them in watching basketball games. We go to different barangay courts which are really filled-up with people! Punung-puno, ang daming nanonood.
“So, it may boost the economy. It combats depression, because somehow, we’re promoting sports, to combat against drugs as well, among the young generation.
“It’s a highly organized and televised league for amateur basketball players, so bawal dito ang mga ex-PBA, ex-ABL, pero open for all ages from 18 years old and above. No age limit, as long as they are fit and can play.”
