MAGAAN ang pagtanggap ng ina ni Olympian Ian ‘YanYan’ Lariba hingil sa pagpanaw ng pamosong table tennis athlete sanhi ng leukaemia nitong Linggo.
Ayon Kay Imelda Lariba, maraming magagandang alaala ang iniwan ng kanyang anak na si Yanyan, dahilan upang manatiling buhay ito sa kanilang alaala.
“She served as an ambassador for cancer patients. She inspired children with cancer when she was invited as a guest speaker in an event organized by the Rotary in Bacolod last December 28-30,” aniya.
Pinalakas din umano ni Yanyan ang loob ng mga kabataang nakikipaglaban sa cancer upang huwag mawalan ng pag-asa at patuloy na lumaban.
“She inspired these kids by telling them they should not be discouraged and depressed.”
Sinabi ni Imelda na buong pusong tinanggap ng kanyang anak ang karamdaman na dumapo sa kanya at patuloy na lumaban hanggang sa huli.
“She even told these kids “ I got sick kahit na athlete ako. Binigay sa akin ‘to Fight lang and move on.”
Samantala, ipinahayag ni Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman William ‘Butch’ Ramirez na sasagutin ng ahensiya ang lahat ng gastusin para sa libing ni Lariba.
“The President, through the PSC, will take care of the bills of Yanyan. We committed to support to her,” ayon kay Ramirez.
“We paid the hospital bills and we will help the family until she goes to Cagayan de Oro. It’s important that people should know her and her contributions to sports being the first Filipino Olympian from table tennis,” aniya.
Kauna-unahang Pinay table netter si Lariba na nakalaro sa 2016 Olympics sa Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Pumanaw siya sa edad na 23.
