KUMPIRMADO nga na sa Thailand gaganapin ang 2018 Miss Universe beauty pageant sa Disyembre 17, 2018.
Mismong si Miss Universe Organization President Paula Shugart, kasama si 2017 Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters ang nagkumpirma sa balita sa press conference sa Bangkok nitong Hulyo 31.
Ito na ang ikatlong pagkakataon na idaraos ang pinakaprestihiyosong patimpalak sa tinaguriang “Land of Smile“, na nag-host na sa pageant noong 1992 at 2005.
May dalawa nang Miss Universe ang Thailand—sina Apasra Hongsakula (1965) at Porntip Nakhirunkanok (1988).

Present si Apasra sa announcement nitong Martes, gayundin si Miss Universe 2005 Natalie Glebova.
Una nang nabalita na idaraos ang beauty pageant sa Thailand, habang naiulat namang nag-bid para mag-host ng paligsahan ang Macau at South Korea.
Samantala, excited at ready nang rumampa ang pambato ng Pilipinas na si Miss Universe Philippines Catriona Gray, lalo at nalaman niyang sa Thailand nga gaganapin ang pageant.
“Sawasdee Ka Thailand!!! Soooo excited that the rumors are true and that it’s finally official!!! @missuniverse to be held in Thailand, December 2018. So excited to go back to one of my favorite travel destinations!!” post ni Catriona sa Instagram.
Makalipas ang announcement, agad namang nagbigay ng tribute si Catriona sa Kingdom of Thailand sa pag-upload niya ng maikling video presentation mula kay Jolo Luarca III, kung saan pino-promote ng Filipino-Australian beauty queen ang mga bansa sa Asya bilang travel destination.
Ishinare din ng dalaga na todo na ang kanyang paghahanda para sa beauty contest.
“I’ve been deep in preparations now since the month of June. I’ve enjoyed every step,” ani Catriona.
“It’s been a collaboration of effort with different passionate Filipinos whether they are with culture, theater, pasarela tainers or my designers. I want to collaborate with a lot of people who are very passionate of what they are doing. I’ve been blessed with everyone in my journey.
“Other than that, working on wardrobes, I consulted with 100 percent Filipino designers. I am really excited to show the international audience the ability and talent of our artists here in the Philippines.
“Also I am working on some videos and also my advocacy so I am excited for them to come out but they won’t be out until much later of the year.”
Nababalita naman na si Catriona, kasama ng iba pang kandidata, ang napiling ng mga organizer para sa promotion ng 2018 Miss Universe pageant.
