HANDA na ang mga atleta ng Team Go for Gold sa international scene matapos manaig ang katatagan ni John Leerams Chicano sa katatapos na Putrajaya Asian Triathlon Confederation (ASTC) Middle Distance Duathlon Asian Championships.

At para mas malinang ang talento ng mga Pinoy triathlete, nakipagtambalan ang Go For Gold sa pamosong Australian coach na si Brett Sutton. Si Sutton ang nagsanay kay Nicola Spirig, kampeon sa 2012 London Olympic at silver medal winner sa 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games.

Sa pangangasiwa ni Sutton, mas nagamit ni Go for Gold’s Filipino coach Melvin Fausto ang mga kaalaman sa makabago at scientific methods sa pagsasanay sa mga atleta.

Ang pagbabago sa sistema ng coaching sa Go for Gold ay kaagad na lumikha ng positibong resulta sa pagsabak ng Pinoy sa Powerman Malaysian kaalinsabay na torneo ng Putrajaya ASTC Middle Distance Duathlon Asian Championships nitong Marso 4.

Nagbigay din ng karangalan sa Go for Gold – programa ng Powerball Marketing and Logistics Corp. – isang kumpanyang pinangangasiwaan ng Pinoy na konektado sa pagsasagawa ng fund-raising program para sa pamahalaan at mga institusyon sa bansa – ay si Raymund Torio ng Lingayen, Pangasinan, na nagwagi ng bronze medal sa Putrajaya

duathlon.

Nanguna rin sa kani-kanilang kategorya ang Go for Gold athletes na sina Leonard Rodina, Carl Vincent Guiterez, John Carlos Selubo at Rogelio Visconde.

“It is a great accomplishment for the Go for Gold Team. Chicano defended his title for being the top Asian duathlete—the same soil where he won the Southeast Asian Games silver medal,” pahayag ni Fausto.

“The race also served as a debut overseas race for our new boys, and I’m very happy with the results,” aniya. “Our hard work really paid off.”

The Powerman Asia Duathlon Championships attracted 3,756 top elite duathletes, multi-sport athletes and enthusiasts from 41 countries.
