KINSHASA, Congo (AP) — Sa kahindik-kahindik na pag-atake sa United Nations peacekeeping mission sa halos 25 taon, pinatay ng mga rebelde sa Congo ang 15 tagapamayapa at 50 iba pa ang sugatan sa pag-atake sa kanilang teritoryo.

Nagpahayag si U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres ng “outrage and utter heartbreak” at tinawag ang atake na isang war crime, inutusan ang awtoridad na agad mag-imbestiga. Sinabi ng Bureau of African Affairs ng State Department na ito ay “horrified.”

Ayon kay U.N. peacekeeping spokesman Nick Birnback, ito ang pinakamatinding atake sa U.N. peacekeeping mission simula noong Hunyo 1993, kung kailan 22 Pakistani soldiers ang napatay sa capital ng Somalia, ang Mogadishu.
