Binawi ng National Police Commission (Napolcom) sa limang alkalde sa Southern Tagalog ang kontrol sa mga operatiba ng Philippine National Police (PNP) sa kani-kanilang nasasakupa, dahil sa pagkakasangkot umano sa ilegal na droga.

Sa direktiba ni Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Officer-In-Charge Catalino Cuy, chairman ng Napolcom, Oktubre 30 nang alisan ng kapangyarihan sa pulisya sina Lemery, Batangas Mayor Eulalio Alilio; Teresa, Rizal Mayor Raul Palino; Tanauan City, Batangas Mayor Antonio Halili; Rodriguez, Rizal Mayor Cecilio Hernandez; at San Pablo City, Laguna Mayor Amben Amante.

“After continuous validation by the intelligence agencies concerned, the following local chief executives from Region 4A (Calabarzon) have been identified as engaged in illegal drug trade/activity,” saad sa direktiba.

“The exercise of the duties, obligations, powers, and prerogatives vested unto the foregoing local chief executives as Napolcom deputy under Section 51 (b) of RA 6975 as amended are hereby suspended accordingly,” bahagi pa ng direktiba.
