TAPIK sa balikat ng Philippine Judo Federation (PJF) ang kabuuang 142 mats na kaloob ng All-Japan Judo Federation at Japanese Embassy para sa grassroots program ng asosasyon.

Personal na tinanggap ni PJF president Dave Carter ang naturang kagamitan sa simpleng seremonya na dinaluhan nina Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) commissioner Charles Maxey at Executive Director Atty. Carlo Abarquez, gayundin nina japan International Cultural Center director Ken Nakamura.

Ayon kay Carter, ang mat at nagkakahalaga ng US$150 (P7,000) kada isa.

“These mats made of straw were manufactured straight from Japan,” pahayag ni Carter.

“We have enough mats for the Philippine team. At the same time, the Philippine Sports Commission through chairman Butch Ramirez said they will provide regional training centers in the provinces. Kami naman, we will provide for the clubs for nearby areas,” aniya.
