Inimbitahan ni Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Spokesperson Jay Tarriela si Sen. Rodante Marcoleta na dumayo sa Kalayaan Island Group (KIG).
Sa latest Facebook post ni Tarriela noong Sabado, Pebrero 7, sinabi niyang tiyak umano siya na totoong makabayan ang senador.
Aniya, “Let us give Senator Marcoleta a chance. I am sure that he is truly a patriotic public servant who can stand for our rights in the West Philippine Sea.”
“I suggest that the good senator join the MDA flight to the Kalayaan Island Group in the future. He does not have to worry; I can arrange it, and I would be happy to join the operation as well,” dugtong pa ni Tarriela.

Ito ay matapos ang kontrobersiyal na pahayag ni Marcoleta na isuko na lang umano ang Kalayaan Island Group dahil hindi naman umano ito saklaw ng Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) ng Pilipinas.
Ngunit nilinaw naman kalaunan ng senador na hindi raw niya sinabi ang naturang pahayag.
“Hindi ko sinabi na ipamigay natin ang KIG,” sabi ni Marcoleta.”These people are deliberately abbreviating the context of what I actually discussed at the last CA hearing before the 35 members of the AFP who are to be confirmed on that day.”
Samantala, wala pa siyang pahayag o reaksiyon kung papatulan ba niya ang mungkahi ni Tarriela na pumunta sa Kalayaan Island Group.
