Naglabas ng pahayag ang Akbayan Partylist kaugnay sa nangyaring gulo sa Mendiola, Maynila sa pagitan ng mga raliyista at sangkapulisan noong Linggo, Setyembre 21.
Ayon sa inilabas na post ng Akbayan sa kanilang Facebook page nitong Martes, Setyembre 23, 2025, iginiit nilang nasa Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) People Power Monument sa Quezon City ang lahat ng mga miyembro ng kanilang grupo noong nangyari ang gulo sa Mendiola.
“Akbayan expresses deep concern over the violent incident that broke out in Mendiola on September 21. Akbayan also wishes to clarify that all of its members and forces were at the EDSA People Power Monument,” anang Akbayan.
Paglilinaw ng Akbayan, hindi umano nila sinusuportahan ang paggawa ng karahasan at nais nilang maituwid ang mga maling impormasyong kumakalat sa social media.

“We do not condone acts of violence and ask for a correction of the wrong information that has been circulating. We recognize, however, that behind such unrest lie the voices of young people disillusioned by corruption, political dynasties that evade accountability, and a system that perpetuates poverty and impunity,” ayon sa Akbayan.
Suspetsa umano ng Akbayan, intensyong mawaksi ang malinis na hangarin ng lumalaking kilusan ng mamamayan laban sa korapsyon ang dahilan kung bakit sumiklab ang gulo mula sa may mga marahas na hangarin ng mga “nagpapanggap” na raliyista.
“At the same time, we remain wary of the possibility that the turmoil was deliberately inflamed by malevolent actors - whether to discredit the growing anti-corruption movement, to sow chaos and install old forces to the highest seat of power, or to create pretexts for military adventurism. These threats must be met with vigilance and a thorough, transparent investigation. May a just resolution be forthcoming,” paglilinaw nila.
Nananawagan naman ang Akbayan para sa mga awtoridad na pairalin umano ang pagkakapantay-pantay lalo na para sa mga menor de edad na magamit ang karapatan nilang magkaroon ng due process, legal counsel, at family visitation sa piitan.
“We call on the authorities to exercise the highest degree of fairness and restraint. Those apprehended, especially minors, must be treated humanely and guaranteed their rights to due process, legal counsel, and family visitation,” panawagan nila.
Pagpapatuloy pa nila, kailangan umanong maipagamot ang mga nasaktang kabataan, kapulisan, at maimbestigahan ang mga naiulat na nasawi sa insidente.
“All who were injured, whether young people or the police, must receive proper care, and the reported death must be fully and credibly investigated. Heavy-handed reprisals will only inflame tensions and erode public trust,” anang Akbayan.
Pagpapaalala ng Akbayan, hindi umano dapat maglaban-laban ang kapwa mamamayan bagkus ay mas pagtuunan ng pansin ang mga nasa kapangyarihan.
Magsilbi raw umano itong banta sa mga pulitiko na galit na ang maraming taumbayan sa korapsyong nangyayari sa gobyerno.
“This moment should remind us that the real struggle is not the poor against the poor, but the working people against plunderers and political dynasties who have long ransacked the nation’s coffers. “This is also a warning to those in power - the people are angry and want justice. The Dutertes cannot escape history’s judgment for the killings and plunder that defined their rule, crimes not forgotten by the young who endured their bloody legacy.
“And the Marcos administration must recognize that unless it delivers on its promise to hold all the corrupt accountable, particularly its own allies, public unrest will only intensify, further eroding what remains of its credibility and the people’s trust,” pagtatapos ng Akbayan.
