Pinangunahan ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang isinagawang National Culminating Activity ng Tara, Basa Tutoring Program (TBTP) sa University of Makati (UMak) sa Taguig City, na ginanap nitong Lunes, Setyembre 15.
Ibinahagi ng Presidential Communications Office (PCO) sa kanilang Facebook post na ang ginanap na kulminasyon ay layong pagsama-samahin sa isang kaganapan ang mga benepisyaryo ng programa.
“Today’s National Culminating Activity gathers beneficiaries and partners from different parts of the country to highlight stories of success and challenges, as well as celebrate the Program’s gains in its three (3) years of implementation,” ani PCO.
Ibinahagi rin ng PCO kung ano nga ba ang mga probisyon at sinasaklaw ng Tara, Basa program.
“The Program is a social welfare and development intervention model where college students are trained and assigned as tutors or learning facilitators to help poor and struggling readers in public elementary schools,” anila.

“They also serve as Youth Development Workers (YDWs) during the ‘Nanay-Tatay’ (mother-father) Teacher Sessions, assisting parents and guardians in gaining tools to support their children’s literacy growth. In return for completing 20 tutoring and learning sessions, the tutors and YDWs receive cash for work based on the current regional daily minimum wage,” dagdag pa nila.
Inilahad din ng PCO na ang TBTP ay idineklara ni PBBM bilang isang “flagship program” ng pamahalaan, sa bisa ng Executive Order (E.O) No. 76, series 2024, na nilagdaan noong Nobyembre 22, 2024.
Naglalayon din ang TBTP na lutasin ang “foundational literacy gaps” sa mga batang hirap matuto at bumasa, habang ito ay nagiging oportunidad naman para sa mga mag-aaral mula sa kolehiyo na nais kumita ng pera.
Binigyang-mandato ng nasabing E.O ang Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), na makipagtulungan sa Department of Education (DepEd), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), National Youth Commission (NYC), state universities and colleges (SUCs), local government units (LGUs), at iba pang mga konektadong ahensya, upang maging matagumpay ang implementasyon ng TBTP.
