Itinanggi ng Malacañang na hinaharangan ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang hakbang na pagpapatalsik kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
Matatandaang kamakailan lamang ay iginiit ni ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. France Castro na hindi dapat makialam si Marcos sa proseso ng impeachment laban kay Duterte.

Sinabi ito ni Castro matapos ipahayag ni Marcos na “very poor” ang timing para sa pagproseso ng impeachment sa Kongreso.

Samantala, sa isang press conference nitong Biyernes, Enero 24, sinabi ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin na nagpapahayag lamang daw si Marcos ng kaniyang opinyon hinggil sa isyu ng impeachment complaints laban kay Duterte, ngunit hindi raw niya ito hinaharangan.
“You know, that under the constitution, the impeachment must emanate from the lower house, okay? Now, if the President has made the statement at all, about that process, it is only an opinion that he stated because he probably—the thinking of the President is that might be distracting us from our agenda and our move forward,” ani Bersamin.
“He is not blocking. He cannot do that because it is the discretion of the collective of the lower house. If they decide to initiate, there is no way of preventing that,” saad pa niya.
Sa kasalukuyan ay tatlong impeachment complaints ang nakahain laban kay Duterte sa Kamara, kung saan kasama sa mga ground umano ay ang paglabag sa Konstitusyon, betrayal of public trust, plunder and malversation, at bribery, graft and corruption.
