Sa kabila ng pag-isyu ng mga senador ng manifesto na tumututol sa People’s Initiative (PI), ipinaabot ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez na nananatiling nakasuporta ang Kamara sa “Resolution of Both Houses (RBH) No.6” ng Senado na naglalayong aprubahan ang Charter change (Cha-cha).
Sinabi ito ni Romualdez sa pamamagitan ng isang sulat na ipinadala kay Senate President Juan Miguel "Migz" Zubiri, na may petsang Enero 25, 2024.
"This representation as the head of the House of the People, together with the Deputy Speakers, Majority Leader, and Minority Leader reiterates our full support with the Senate in their filing and eventual passage of Resolution of Both Houses (RBH No.6), entitled: 'A Resolution of Both Houses of Congress proposing amendments to certain economic provisions of the 1987 Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines, particularly on Articles XII, XIV and XVI'," ani Romualdez sa sulat na inulat ng Manila Bulletin.
"We await the approval of the Senate of RBH No.6, and we commit to adopt this measure pertaining to the amendments of the economic provisions of the Constitution," dagdag pa niya.
Bato, iginiit na si Romualdez nasa likod ng PI campaign; House speaker, umalma!
Sinabi rin ng House leader na nangangako ang Kamara na susuportahan umano nito ang isang alternatibong People's Initiative na pinamumunuan ng Senado.
“[The House] pledges and commits to support an alternative People's Initiative led by the Senate with the proposition on amendments to the restrictive economic provisions of the Constitution,” ani Romualdez.
"We stand at a historic juncture, where cooperation and collective resolve are paramount. We will transcend past barriers to reform, charting a course towards a future where every Filipino can partake in the nation's prosperity.
Together, we are steadfast in our resolve to cultivate a nation where democracy flourishes, economies thrive, and every Filipino is empowered to realize their fullest potential," saad pa niya.
Kamakailan lamang ay inihayag ni Romualdez na ang pangunahing layunin umano ng Cha-cha ay mapagaan ang “restrictive economic provisions” ng Konstitusyon.
Itinanggi rin ng House Speaker na siya umano ang nasa likod ng PI campaign.
Samantala, ang naturang sulat ni Romualdez kay Zubiri ay nangyari matapos maglabas ang senado ng isang manifesto na nagsasaad ng pagtutol ng lahat ng 24 na mga senador sa PI campaign para sa Cha-cha.
