Ibinahagi ng National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) ang kamangha-manghang larawan ng apat na malalaking spiral galaxies na nakuhanan daw ng kanilang Hubble Space Telescope.

“It’s a beautiful day in this galactic neighborhood captured by @NASAHubble, but things aren’t as close as they appear,” anang NASA sa isang Instagram post.

“The four large spiral galaxies featured in this snapshot seem near each other, but they are quite distant,” dagdag nito.

Ayon sa NASA, ang naturang larawan daw ng apat na spiral galaxies ay isang halimbawa ng “challenge” sa pagtukoy ng paghihiwalay sa pagitan ng mga kalawakan mula sa 2-dimensional point of view.

“For instance, the largest galaxy to the right, NGC 1356, appears to be directly adjacent to the small galaxy overlapping one of its arms, LEDA 95415. In reality, they are nearly 300 million light-years apart,” paliwanag ng NASA.

“Meanwhile, the galaxy to the left, IC 1947, is only around 400,000 away from NGC 1356 despite seeming further off in 2-D,” saad pa nito.
