Iniaalok ng Indian government ang pitong helicopter na gagamitin ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) sa rescue at humanitarian operations sa panahon ng kalamidad o sakuna sa bansa.

Ito ang kinumpirma ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. at sinabing malaking tulong ito sa pagpapatatag ng kakayahan ng PCG sa rescue at humanitarian efforts nito.

Aniya, malaking tulong din ito sa maritime operations ng PCG.

“We’re trying to build up our capacity – our capabilities in terms of our coast guard, in terms of our – of course, the search and rescue is always the primary consideration,” anang punong ehekutibo.

“As you heard the news, there is a continuing problem really that we have to deal with and we have to increase our capabilities,” aniya.

Ang pahayag ng Pangulo ay kasunod ng courtesy call ni Indian Ambassador to the Philippines Shambhu Kumaran nitong nakaraang linggo kung saan tinalakay ang patuloy na pagsisikap ng pamahalaan upang mapatatag ang relasyon ng Pilipinas at India.

“The discussion is going on very well. The Coast Guard is very interested – they’ve flown the helicopter … I would request your consideration because that would be a very positive [program],” sabi naman ni Kumaran kay Marcos.
