Mahigit sa ₱1.43 bilyong halaga ng illegal e-cigarettes ang natagpuan ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) sa isang bodega sa Valenzuela City nitong Sabado.

Sa ulat ng BOC, sinalakay nila ang naturang warehouse sa 18 Bagong Filipino Industrial Compound, M. Gregorio St., Canumay West, Valenzuela City.

Nalantad sa raiding team ang mahigit sa 14,000 kahong naglalaman ng 1.4 milyong pirasong 10-ml na disposable vapes. 

“Remember that we have an excise tax currently being imposed on tobacco products. That’s why the value of this operation ballooned to more than PHP1 billion. These kinds of activities do not only adversely impact our local tobacco industry, but it also takes away from the government a sizeable chunk of money that we can use for our infrastructure programs, social services,” pahayag naman ni BOC Commissioner Bien Rubio.

"We received information that a warehouse in Valenzuela City is being utilized as storage of voluminous illegally imported e-cigarettes or vape products without proper payment of correct duties and taxes,” anang opisyal.

Idinagdag pa ng BOC, binigyan muna nila ng panahon ang may-ari ng mga produkto upang makapagharap ng papeles bago nila isagawa ang pagsamsam.
