Itinakda na ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) ang pagdinig sa petisyong humihiling na pigilan ang technology provider na Smartmatic na lumahok mula sa bidding para sa pagbili ng bagong automated election system (AES) ng poll body para sa 2025 national and local elections.
Nabatid na idaraos ang pagdinig sa Oktubre 17 dakong alas-10:00 ng umaga sa session hall, sa 8th floor ng Palacio del Gobernador sa Gen. Luna St. sa Intramuros, Maynila.
Diwata, nabudol nga ba ng sinalihang party-list?
“[T] he Commission (En Banc) hereby SETS the instant case for HEARING on 17 October 2023, at 10:00 A.M., at the Session Hall, 8th Floor, Palacio del Gobernador, Gen. Luna St., Intramuros, Manila,” nakasaad pa sa kautusan na ibinahagi ni Comelec Chairman George Garcia.
Sa nasabing kautusan, inaatasan rin ang Smartmatic na magkomento sa petisyon, sa loob ng limang araw at magsagawa ng pre-marking sa lahat ng rekord ng komisyon at petisyon sa Oktubre 16.
Matatandaang una nang inianunsiyo ni Garcia ang pagdaraos ng pormal na pagdinig sa petisyon, na isinampa nina dating Department of Information and Communications Technology chief Eliseo MIjares Rio Jr., Augusto Cadelina Lagman, Franklin Fayloga Ysaac, at Leonardo Olivera Odono.
Ang petisyon ay inihain noong Hunyo 15 at may titulong “In the Matter of the Petition to Review the Qualifications of Smartmatic Philippines, Inc. as a Prospective Bidder in View of its Failure in the 2022 Elections to Comply with Certain Minimum System Capabilities that Resulted in Serious and Grave Irregularities in the Transmission and Receipt of Election Returns and, if warranted, to Disqualify Smartmatic from Participating in the Bidding for the 2025 Automated Election System."
