“He, along with his country’s ships and artificial islands in the West Philippine Sea, should pack up and leave.”
Ito ang binigyang-diin ni Senador Risa Hontiveros matapos umanong sabihin ni Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian na dapat tutulan ng Pilipinas ang kasarinlan ng Taiwan kung tunay itong nagmamalasakit sa mga Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) doon.
“Philippines is advised to unequivocally oppose ‘Taiwan Independence’ rather than stoking the fire by offering the US access to the military bases near the Taiwan Strait if you care genuinely about the 150,000 OFWs,” saad ng ambassador sa forum.
“These are truly DISGRACEFUL statements from Ambassador Huang Xilian. How dare he threaten us,” pahayag naman ni Hontiveros nitong Linggo, Abril 16.

Sinabi rin ni Hontiveros na magpapatuloy ang pagtatrabaho ng mga OFW sa Taiwan hangga’t gusto nila at hindi umano papayag ang bansa na diktahan ng Beijing ang kinabukasan ng mga Pilipino.
“Our OFWs in Taiwan will continue to work where they work. End of story. Filipinos will thrive and make a living according to our wishes,” anang senador. “We will never let Beijing decide on the future of Filipino families. Their destiny is not in China’s hands.”
The Palace should tell Beijing to recall their representative in Manila as soon as possible.
Binigyang-diin din niya na dapat sabihin ng Palasyo sa Beijing na tingnan nila ang kanilang kanitawan sa Manila sa lalong madaling panahon.
Ayon kay Hontiveros, hindi dapat maging diplomat si Huang kung hindi niya kayang makipag-ugnayan sa isang magalang at marangal na paraan.
“The Philippines will never interfere with the issue of Taiwanese independence. That is exclusively for the people of Taiwan to tackle,” ani Hontiveros.
“We, in the Philippines, respect the right of the Taiwanese people to self-determination, and this right must be upheld by all other nations that share this planet, even including the autocratic regime of China,” dagdag niya.
Sinabi rin ni Hontiveros na kung ang may isyu ang China sa United States, hindi niya dapat isali ang Pilipinas sa kanilang iringan.
“It is China who has been stoking tensions in the region, claiming territories that aren’t hers. It is China who continues to bully, harass, and intimidate other smaller nations in the region. It is China who is making all this mess,” saad niya.
Kasunod ng military exercises ng China malapit sa teritoryo ng Taiwan, hinimok ni Senador Christopher ‘’Bong’’ Go ang gobyerno na unahin ang kapakanan ng mahigit 150,000 sa Taiwan na maaari umanong nasa panganib ang kabuhayan.
