Sinabi ni Senador Risa Hontiveros nitong Sabado, Marso 18, na ipinakita ng inilabas na arrest warrant ng International Criminal Court (ICC) kay Russian President Vladimir Putin na hindi lamang manonood ang mundo habang lumalaganap ang mga "war crimes, genocide at crimes against humanity" sa isang bansa.
Sinabi ito ni Hontiveros matapos inanunsyo ng ICC noong Biyernes, Marso 17, ang pag-isyu ng arrest warrant kay Putin dahil sa war crimes sa Ukraine.

"The arrest warrant for President Putin is a strong message to the global community that the world will not idly watch while war crimes, genocide and crimes against humanity are being committed within territories of individual countries," ani Hontiveros.

"Moscow may continue to argue that the warrants are moot, but member-states to the ICC are dutybound to arrest those upon whom warrants are served when they come into the territory of an ICC member-state. This already severely curtails movement of perpetrators," dagdag niya.
Saad pa ni Hontiveros, tinanggap na rin ng Kyiv ang jurisdiction ng ICC sa mga krimen ng teritoryo nito.
"And who knows if a future Kremlin leader decides that it is in their interest to give up Putin to the ICC. Di ba ito ang nangyari kay Slobodan Milosevic?" aniya.
Nagpahayag din ang senador na maging leksyon at "fair warning" umano nangyaring arrest warrant sa nabigong kampanya kontra droga na tila pinatutungkulan ang nangyari sa ilalim ng administrasyon ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
"I can only hope that there is something to be learned from this. To those who continue to deny justice to victims of State-sponsored abuses, including the excesses of a failed Drug War, consider this fair warning," ani Hontiveros.
“The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice," saad pa niya.
