Pinanindigan ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) Second Division ang pinalawig nilang panahon sa pagsusumite ng kampo ni presidential candidate Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos ng kasagutan sa petisyong nagpapakansela sa kanyang kandidatura sa 2022 national elections.
Sa ruling ng Comelec nitong Nobyembre 23, ibinasura nito ang mosyon ng mga nagharap ng petisyon na humihiling na irekonsidera ang desisyong bigyan ng 5-day extension ang mga abogado ni Marcos kaugnay ng usapin.
Idinahilan ng Comelec ang Section 4, Rule 1 ng 1993 Comelec Rules of Procedure na nagbibigay ng kapangyarihan sa ahensya na "suspendihin ang mga alituntunin nito" sa layuning mapadali ang pagresolba ng usapin.
“The Comelec therefore has authority to suspend the reglementary periods provided by the rules in the interest of justice and speedy resolution of the cases before it. Under this authority, the Commission is similarly enabled to cope with all situations without concerning itself about procedural niceties that do not square with the need to do justice, in any case without further loss of time, provided that the right of the parties to a full day in court is not substantially impaired,” ayon sa desisyon ng ahensya.

Christian Buenafe ng Task Force Detainees, Fides Lim ng Kapatid, Ma Edeliza Hernandez ng Medical Action Group, Celia Lagman Sevilla ng Families of Victims of Involuntary Disappearance, Roland Vibal ng PH Alliance of Human Rights, at Josephine Lasvano ng Balay Rehab Center ang petisyon na nagpapakanselang kandidarurani Marcos.
