Inaprubahan ng House committee on transportation nitong Miyerkules ang ‘Motorcycles-for-Hire Act’ na magre-regulate sa operasyon ng lahat ng motorcycles-for-hire sa Pilipinas.
Sinabi ni Samar Rep. Edgar Mary Sarmiento, chairman ng komite, na ang“Motorcycles-for-Hire Act” ay pinag-isang panukala mula sa 19 iba't ibang panukala na naglalayong makontrol ang operasyon ng motorcycle taxis at delivery services at iklasipika sila bilang common carriers.
Ania, ang motorcycle taxis at motorcycle delivery services ay naging "one of the biggest job-generating industries in the country even during the pandemic and the enactment of the proposed Motorcycles-for-Hire Act would protect them from whimsical policy changes, crackdowns, and even extortion.
Itatakda ng panukala ang mga pamantayan, specifications, at mga parusa sa operasyon ng motorcycle-for-hires.
