Ayon kay Department of Health Undersecretary and treatment czar Leopoldo Vega nitong Martes, Hunyo 29, wala pang local cases ng COVID-19 Delta variant sa bansa.
Sinabi ni Vega, lahat ng 17 na kaso ng Delta variant sa bansa ay foreign travelers.
“We must really focus on border control because as of now, 17 Delta [cases] have been identified through a sequencing and no Delta variant has been detected at the local level,” ayon kay treatment czar sa Palace briefing
“We hope we can sustain this because we know this variant is contagious and can also give us an increase in hospitalization rate, so the only way here is prevention and vaccination,” dagdag pa niya

Unang nakita ang Delta variant (B.1.617.2) sa India at ito ay 60 na porsyentong mas nakakahawa kaysa sa Alpha variant (B.1.1.7) na lumitaw sa United Kingdom.
Nauna nang sinabi ng DOH na ang mga nahawahan ng Delta variant ay mas matagal ang pananatili sa mga ospital kaysa sa mga nahawaan ng ibang variants.
