Sa susunod na linggo na malalaman kung matutuloy ang 31st Southeast Asian Games ngayong taon matapos na walo sa 11 SEA Games Federation members kabilang na ang Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) ang bumoto na ituloy ito.
Bukod sa Pilipinas, ang iba pang bumoto o pumabor na ituloy ang biennial meet sa Nobyembre 21 - Disyembre 2 sa Hanoi ay ang bansang Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand at Timor Leste.
Kasalukuyang dumaranas ng krisis na pulitikal, kapwa bumoto ang Vietnam at Myanmar sa postponement ng SEA Games habang hindi naman bumoto ang Laos.
“It’s still the government of Vietnam that has the final decision,” ani POC president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino.

Gayunman, ayon kay Tolentino, nasa Vietnam pa rin ang huling desisyon.
Ang pagtaas ng bilang ng kaso ng COVID-19 ang dahilan kung bakit gustong iurong ng Vietnam ang pagdaraos ng multi-sports event.
“The hosts are also reluctant to postpone the Games because all their structures and venues are already complete. But the pandemic has raised the alarm,” ani Tolentino.
Bumoto aniya siya para sa pagdaraos ng SEA Games dahil pinaghahandaan na ito ng mga atletang Pinoy at may nailaan ngP200 milyong budget para sa kanilang training at partisipasyon.
“It’s unfair to the athletes who have already sacrificed their time and effort in training for the SEA Games.Athletes are also preparing for the Asian Games, Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games and Winter Olympics next year. So it’s very difficult for the SEA Games to be postponed,” paliwanag pa ni Tolentino.
