HANDA na ang lahat sa pagdaraos ng 3rd Our Lady of Perpetual Succour’s (OLOPSC) “Surfin D’ Board” Online Chess Tournament sa Mayo 8.
Ang nasabing tournament ay pet project ng OLOPSC Parent’s Teachers Association (PTA), ayon sa pangulo nila na si Sir Errol Bernard Torres. “Even in a pandemic, online chess tournament is a thriving and welcome activity for our studentry to showcase their talents and intellectual prowess,” pahayag ni Torres.
Ipapatupad ang seven round swiss system 10 minutes plus 3 seconds increment time control format sa online platform Lichess.org.
Ang registration ay libre at bukas sa lahat ng bonafide Grade school at High School students ng eskwelahan. May nakataya na P20,000 worth of cash prizes, plaques, at medals, kung saan bawat participant ay makakatangap ng e-certificate.

Ang magkakampeon sa grade school at high school categories ay makatatangap ng tig-P1,500 kung saan ang cash prizes ng winners hanggang sa 10th places sa bawat categories.
Ang e-chess tournament ay isinagawa sa pakikipagtulungan sa arbitration team ng Philippine Arbiters Chess Confederation (PACC). kung saan ang Chief Arbiter ay si NA Ranier B. Pascual habang ang Deputy Chief Arbiter ay si NA Ferdinand Reyes Sr.
“We, in the PACC, hope to contribute in spurring the grassroots development of Chess in our country,” sambit ni NA Pascual.
Kabilang sa mga naunang nagpatala ay sina Allen Sison, Marcus Rafer, Desmond Pimentel, Keandra and Keira Aviso, Oliver Sanchez, Vince Yu, Xyleen Sunga, Gerome Cubangbang, Yang Lumbre, Mervin Manalang, Jacob Alfonso, Jacques Alog II, Carly Cuaresma, Lance Balean at Arkin Suaco.
Ayon kay OLOPSC PTA officer Mam Grace Balean, deadline ng registration ay sa Abril 26.
