Nagbabala ang isang kongresista hinggil sa pagbebenta ng Ivermectin tablets sa pamamagitan ng online shopping matapos kumalat ang mga report na ang gamot na ito para sa hayop ay maaaring epektibo rin laban sa Covid-19.
Sinabi ni Deputy Speaker for trade and industry Wes Gatchalian, na natutuwa siyang ang “online e-commerce sites likeLazadahave clearly classifiedIvermectinas a veterinary drug,” pero nagbabala tungkol sa ano mang misimpormasyon sa droga na ginagamit lang para sa mga hayop (anti-parasitic drug).
“There may be unscrupulous individuals who will use the leniency of these online sites that make the drug easily accessible, to prey on the public especially now when word has spread thatIvermectinmay be used as a cure for COVID-19,” anang mambabatas ng Valenzuela City.

Nagbabala siya sa publiko na maraming bumibili ngayon ng Ivermectin sa e-commerce sites, at sinabing ang drogang ito ay hindi pa aprubado ng Food and Drug Administration (FDA) para sa mga tao.
“People should never take animal drugs, as the FDA has only evaluated their safety and effectiveness in the particular species for which they are labeled. Using these products in humans could cause serious harm,” ani Gatchalian.
Samantala, bukasnaman ang ng World Health Organization (WHO) sa posibleng paggamit ng Ivermectin laban sa COVID-19, pero nilinaw na wala pang kongkretong ebidensiya tungkol sa bisa o efficacy nito.
"The issue withIvermectinis that, based on that initial study and the currently available data, it is not strong enough for us to advocate the use ofIvermectinfor treatment or prevention of COVID-19,” pahayag ni WHO representative to Manila Dr. Rabindra Abeyasinghe.
