Inihanda na ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) sa pamamagitan ng Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs (OUMWA) ang repatriation flight upang maiuwi ang mga Pilipino mula sa Lebanon.

Ayon sa DFA, ang flight ay nakatakda sa Agosto 16 at kasama sa iuuwi ang mga labi ng apat na Pinoy na biktima ng pagsabog sa Beirut nitong Martes

“The President heard the clamor of our kababayans. This chartered flight is the most concrete, immediate and timely assistance that the Department of Foreign Affairs could provide given the current situation in Lebanon,” ipinahayag ni Undersecretary Sarah Lou Y. Arriola.

Bago ang COVID-19 pandemic, sinimulan ng DFA ang kanyang repatriation activities mula sa Lebanon upang hindi malagay mas malalang kondisyon ang mga Pinoy dahil sa problema ng ekonomiya.

“Since December 2019, the Department has repatriated at least 1,508 Filipinos from Lebanon. When COVID-19 struck, the DFA moved to provide assistance to our overseas Filipinos in the country,” dugtong ni Arriola .
