Ipinahayag ng Badminton Asia at Philippine Badminton Association na sumunod ang federasyon sa tamang protocol para masiguro ang kalusugan ng mga kalahok sa gitna nang mapinsalang Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak.
“We can assure to the players and the Filipino people that their safety is put on a premium to ensure the world-class staging of this event,” pahayag ni PBA secretary-general Christopher Quimpo.
Aniya, sumunod ang asosasyon sa ipinatutupad na ‘protocol’ ng Department of Health (DOH).
“The world’s best badminton players have been vocal in saying that they are ready to put on a show come the Asian Team Championships -- and this includes our national team who has been training hard for the past few months for this event,” sambit ni Quimpo.
Itinataguyod ang torneo ng SMART Communications Inc., MVP Sports Foundation, Leisure and Resorts World Corporation, Cignal, at TV5.
Tuluyangnamang umtaras ang China at Hong Kong, gayundin ang women’s team ng India.
Bunsod nito, isinagawa ang ‘redraw’ kahapon sa coaches’ meeting sa Century Park Hotel sa Manila.
Sa nunang grouping, kasama ang China at Hong Kong sa Group B sa men’s division, gayundin ang Thailand. Kasama naman ang Hong Kong sa Group W sa women’s division tulad ng Malaysia at Japan, habang ang India ay kasama ng Korea at Kazakhstan sa Group X.
