NAKOPO ni Merwin Tan ang boys’ Masters youth championships sa 51st Singapore International Open 2019 nitong Linggo.

Ito ang ikalawang sunod na international title ni Tan na naunang nagwagi sa 20th Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships sa Malaysia.

Nakana ng 19-anyos na si Tan ang 1,687 pinfalls sa loob ng walong laro para gapiin si Malaysian Megan Zaqrul Haiqal ng limang pins. Pangatlo si Japanese Keita Tokushia na may 1,657 pinfalls sa Singapore Bowling Tamasek Club sa Rifle Range, Singapore.

Itinataguyod ang kampanya ng national junior bowler , sa pakikipagtulungan ng Philippine Bowling Federation.

“I’don’t want to put pressure on Merwin but he is favored to win the title because of his performances in the last few months. Merwin has very good work ethics, trying to improve himself everytime and master his craft. He’s always practicing what he does. He is a good example to other youth bowlers,” pahayag ni head coach Biboy Rivera.

Kinapos naman ng pitong pins (1,667) si Bea Hernandez para makasegunda sa girls’ youth masters titlist na si winner Yuen Hui Shan Natalene ng Singapore (1,674). Ang kababayan niyang si Tay Kai Lin Arianne ay pangatlo (1,643 pin falls).

Suportado ang Filipino bowlers ng PAGCOR, Smart and the MVP Sports Foundation, Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympic Committee were accompanied by other coaches Rey Reyes and Jojo Canare, at C Commissioner Arnold Agustin.

Ang iba pang chairman ay sina Alexis Sy, Liza Del Rosario, Kenzo Umali, Grace Gella, Kenneth Chua, Lara Posadas, Dyan Coronacion, Patrick Nuqui, Mades Arles, Raoul Miranda, Enzo Hernandez, Rachelle Leon, Alyssa Ty, Norel Nuevo, Emerson Gotencio at Kayle Abad.

Ginagamit ng mga Pinoy ang liga -- The Singapore Open – bilang premyadong paghahanda para Sa 30TH SEA Games.
