Kinilala ng magazine si Margielyn dahil sa kanyang gold medal win sa women’s street skateboarding competition sa Asian Games, at sinabing ang Cebuana skateboarder “became a national hero in the process.”

Nakasungkit ang 19 taong gulang na skateboarder ng gold medal makaraang makakuha ng average mark na 30.4 points.

“That medal would be the Philippines’ first Olympic gold and would help cement skateboarding’s status as a serious sport in the country,” pahayag ng TIME.

Bukod kay Margielyn, pasok din sa listahan ang Stranger Things actress na si Millie Bobby Brown, ang singer na si Billie Eilish, ang Olympic gold medalist na si Chloey Kim, ang The Kissing Booth star Joey King, at ang K-pop group na NCT Dream.

Ayon sa TIME, ang mga personalidad na napapabilang sa taunang listahan ay tinukoy ng mga “accolades across numerous fields, global impact through social media and overall ability to drive news.”

Noong 2017, dalawang Pinoy teens, ang student activist na si Shibby de Guzman at ang YouTube star Bretman Rock, ang napabilang sa taunang listahan ng TIME magazine.
