LAPU-LAPU CITY- Muli, isang dayuhang triathlete sa katauhan ni Mauricio Mendez ng Mexico ang tinanghal na kampeon sa Regent Aguila Ironman 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship kahapon sa Shangri- La Mactan Resorts & Spa sa Cebu.

Naisumite ng 22-anyos na si Mendez ang tyempong tatlong oras, 46 minuto at 45 segundo para gapiin sina Tyler Butterfield ng Bermunda, may 54 segundo ang layo, habang pangatlo si Braden Currie ng New Zealand (3:48:12).
“Super happy at first. I trained and I prepare myself to win but I didn’t know what to expect cause everyone still the same. They are all super strong athletes. I’m just grateful and really happy to take the win,” pahayag ni Mauricio Mendez.

Nabigo si Tim Reed sa target na italong AsPac 70.3 title nang kapusin sa podium sa oras na 03:52:51.
Sa women’s pro class, nanguna si Czech Radka Vodickova sa oras na 4:12:13, kasunod sina Caroline Steffen (04:21:46) at Melissa Hauschildt (04:22:50).
