Ipinangako ng Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) na mas pabibilisin at magiging abot-kaya ang Internet sa pagtanggap nito sa posibleng pagpasok ng third major player sa local telecommunications industry.
Ang pinakamalaking naabot ng departamento ngayong taon ay ang kasunduan sa Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) at sa Facebook na magtayo ng broadband infrastructure na makatutulong sa pagpapaunlad ng Internet sa bansa.
Magkakaloob ang Luzon Bypass Infrastructure ng bypass route para sa international submarine cable systems mula sa Luzon Strait, na prone sa multiple simultaneous submarine cable breaks.
Magkakaloob ang Facebook, na gagamit ng broadband infrastructure, ng frequency spectrums na may katumbas na 2 million megabytes per second (Mbps).
