KABUUANG 300 table tennis players, kabilang ang mga foreign entries ang magtatagisan ng husay sa pagpalo ng first Chief Philippine National Police (PNP) ‘Bato’ Cup Battle of the Champions Table Tennis Championships sa October 27-29 sa Garden Square sa Harrison Plaza sa Malate, Manila.

Kabilang sa elite teams na magpapakitang-gilas ang Table Tennis Association of North District (TATAND), Hua Ching Foundation, Philippine Air Force (PAF), University of Cebu (UC), Star Paper Corp., Omila Sports Academy, PNP Table Tennis Club at Awei.

“We are expecting more participants including foreign players from Japan, China, London, Malaysia and Korea that will challenge the Filipino players. Aside from foreign participants, players from the Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao regions are also there to compete,” pahayag ni organizing Committee Chairman PS Supt. Michael John F Dubria.

Bukod sa battle of the champions sa torneo na itinataguyod ng San Miguel Corporation at Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), paglalabanan din ang men and women’s school/government agencies team event, Liha team, men’s and women’s singles at Executive event for Law Enforcement/Military and team managers.

“With this first Bato Cup, we hope to give our share in national efforts to further encourage interest in table tennis as a sport among our youth and thus help them steer them away against illegal drugs and other nefarious activities that may ruin their lives and rob them of a brighter future,” pahayag ni Police Director General Chief PNP Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa.

Suportado rin ang tatlong araw ng kompetisyon ng PSSLAI, Emperador, Trust Trade, PRO Regional Directors at PNP Finance Service.

May nakalaan P300,000 na kabuuang papremyo bukod pa sa tropeo para sa mga magwawaging netters.
