BUDAPEST, Hungary — Nakopo ni Jun Hoong Cheong ang kauna-unahang gintong medalya ng Malaysia sa World Aquatics Championships matapos gapiin ang liyamadong karibal mula sa China sa women’s 10-meter platform ng diving nitong Miyerkules (Huwebes sa Manila).
Apat sa pitong hurado ang nagbigay ng perpektong 10 puntos kay Cheong sa kanyang reverse 2½ somersault na gumapi kay Si Yajie ng China. Nakopo ni Cheong ang kabuuang 397.5 puntos, may 1.5 puntos lamang na bentahe kay Yajie.
“The first few dives I didn’t even see the scoreboard, because I really, really needed to focus on every dive,” pahayag ni Cheong. “Until the last dive, I came up and I saw my previous ranking was first, and I’m kind of shocked actually.”
