Malapit nang simulan sa Cuba ang pagsubok sa bisa ng bagong gamot na naglalayong pabagalin ang degenerative effects ng Alzheimer’s disease.
Sinabi ni Leslie Perez, researcher sa Center for Molecular Immunology (CIM), na sisimulan ang clinical trials ng gamot na “NeuroEpo” matapos itong aprubahan ng Center for Drug Control, Equipment and Medical Devices.
Tinatayang 300 clinical trials ang isinasagawa sa buong mundo para sa mga gamot laban sa Alzheimer’s disease, ngunit ngayon lamang ito isasagawa sa Cuba.
Sinabi ni Perez na hindi mapipigilan o mabubura ng therapy ang Alzheimer’s disease, ngunit iginiit na maganda ang preclinical results nito sa pagpapabagal sa paglubha ng sakit.

“Alzheimer’s disease is produced by the deposition of abnormal proteins (p-tau and b-Amyloid42) in our brains.
NeuroEpo has not demonstrated that it can eliminate these proteins”, sabi ni Perez sa pahayagang Granma.
Gayunman, dahil sa neuroprotective effects, inaasahang pababagalin ng NeuroEpo ang disposisyon ng mga protina, at mapababagal ang paglubha ng sakit at ang pagtindi ng mga sintomas nito, aniya.
“Alzheimer’s is a neurodegenerative disease which does not retreat, and it will always advance. What we want is to help delay that degenerative process and improve the quality of life of that person (the patient) and their family,” aniya. (PNA)
