NANAWAGAN si Miss Colombia Andrea Tovar sa American television host na si Steve Harvey na huwag nang ulitin ang pagkakamali sa paghahayag ng winner sa 65th Miss Universe beauty contest sa Lunes.

“This year, no mistake,” natatawang sabi ni Tovar sa panayam ng ABS-CBN hinggil sa pagdating ni Harvey sa bansa kahapon. “It’s just a mistake. Human mistake is normal.”

Si Harvey, 60, ang magiging host ng 65th Miss Universe beauty pageant sa SM Mall of Asia Arena sa Pasay City sa Enero 30, simula alas 8 ng umaga.

Noong Disyembre 2015, nagkamali si Harvey sa paghahayag na si Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez ang nagwaging Miss Universe sa halip na si Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.

Dalawang araw bago isinagawa ang preliminary competition, pumuwesto si Miss Philippines Maxine Medina sa Top 4 ng favorite candidates sa prestigious beauty pageant, batay sa online betting sa ibang bansa.

Ang iba pang mga kandidata na hinuhulaang mananalo sa beauty contest ay ang mga delegado mula sa Venezuela, Colombia, Nicaragua, Peru, Brazil, Belgium at Mexico.

Sinabi ni Cory Quirino, dating national director ng isa pang national beauty pageant (Miss World Philippines), na ang determinasyon ni Maxine na manalo ang magpapatingkad sa kanyang kagandahan Miss Universe 2016 beauty contest.

“While I’m not familiar with Miss Universe, I presume that they look for outstanding qualities in a winning candidate. Maxine represents the Filipina in every positive way. She is visually attractive and projects a beautiful stage presence.

“What she should believe in her mind is that she’s not Pia (Wurtzbach) but Maxine. She should own the stage and spotlight as only she can. Now, her will to win mist outshine her beauty,” ani Quirino sa isang text message.

JUDGES CHOICES

Inihayag ng judges sa preliminary competition na pumili ng Top 12 candidates noong Enero 27, ang mga katangiang hinahanap nila sa susunod na next Miss Universe.

Miss Universe 1993 Dayana Torres: “I’m looking forward to finding a woman who can handle herself with grace and confidence through her journey with this prestigious title. I understand it’s a beauty pageant however beauty will not be the only factor. Personality and confidence will blow the judges away every time!”
