Tiniyak ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) na nakalatag na ang mga planong pangseguridad para sa Miss Universe pageant na gaganapin sa bansa sa Enero 2017.

Sinabi ni DILG Undersecretary for Legislative Liaison and Special Concerns Emily Padilla, na siya ring nakatalagang point person para sa mga paghahandang pangseguridad sa Miss Universe 2017, na nakikipagtulungan ang DILG at ang Philippine National Police (PNP) sa Department of Tourism (DoT) at sa mga kinatawan ng Miss Universe pageant, at nagsagawa na sila ng mga pagpupulong at ocular visit sa venues.

“We have presented to them (DoT and representatives of Miss Universe pageant) the security plans. And we have conducted ocular inspections on the big venue, and we will do ocular inspections in other areas that will be visited by the candidates,” sabi ni Padilla.

Ang mahigit 90 beauty queen mula sa iba’t ibang bansa sa buong mundo na magtutunggali para maiuwi ang korona ng Miss Universe ay magtutungo sa magagandang lugar ng bansa, tulad ng Baguio, Cebu, Davao at Bohol.

“Strict and elaborate security protocols will be in place to prevent lawless elements from doing something malevolent considering the pageant’s global attraction. The DILG and the PNP will prevent any untoward incident to happen before, during or close to and after the pageant,” aniya. (Chito A. Chavez)
