Matapos na sumirit sa nakalipas na limang taon, bumaba na ngayon ang population growth rate (PGR) sa bansa, ayon sa Commission on Population (POPCOM).
Sa isang pahaayag, sinabi ni POPCOM Executive Director Juan Antonio Perez III na bumaba ang PGR ng bansa ng 1.9 na porsiyento mula sa 1.72 porsiyento noong 2015.
“This resulted in a population that is lower by half a million by 2015 than what had been predicted by the last 2010 census of population and housing,” sabi ni Perez, tinukoy ang resulta ng 2015 Population Census.
Ito, ayon kay Perez, ay bunga ng agresibong pagpapatupad ng gobyerno ng programa nito sa family planning.
“POPCOM noted that various factors can reduce population growth including increase in contraceptive prevalence rate within the five-year period of 2010-2015, which indicates that up to 45 percent of couples women and men are using a modern family planning method,” ani Perez.
