Naging matagumpay ang inilunsad na Republikang TM Basketball Para sa Bayan sa iba’t ibang barangay sa Kamaynilaan at karatig lalawigan kung saan libo-libung kabataan na nabigyan ng libreng pagsasanay at pagtuturo para pahalagahan ang disiplina at sportsmanship.

“TM Basketball Para Sa Bayan is a wonderful way to showcase the talents of up-and-coming basketball players,” phayag ni Globe Director for Corporate Social Responsibility Fernando Esguerra.

“Working with underprivileged communities and discovering several sports-oriented and talented children give us encouragement that we are indeed on the right track in nation-building through sports,” aniya.

Iginiit naman ni Trina Sebastian, Director for TM Portfolio and Brand Management, na patuloy ang mga programa para pataasin ang moral at katauhan ng mga kabataan, higit yaong tinatawag na “under privilege youth”.

“Sports is a great equalizer. By providing resources to this advocacy, TM would be able to help bring out the potential in these kids and create opportunities which they may not easily get given the financial barriers that they face,” aniya.

Nakapaloob sa programa ng TM BPSB ang pagsasagawa ng basketball clinics at 3-on-3 tournament. Ang mga nagwaging koponan ay pagkakalooban ng pagkakataon na makasama sa NBA 3x na gaganapin sa Manila sa Agosto.

Pinangunahan ni Ginebra King guard LA Tenorio ang pagtuturo at pagbibigay ng basketball sa 70 kabataan na nasa edad 9-14 na sumabak sa 3-on-3 competition sa Cavite.

“Basketball has always been my lifelong passion and it is an honor to be able to share this with the Filipino youth from different backgrounds through Basketball Para Sa Bayan,”pahayag ni Tenorio.

“By recognizing their potential and empowering them to focus and hone their skills, I hope they apply the lessons learned on the court into their daily lives and become better persons.”
