Tiniyak ni Justice Secretary Emmanuel Caparas na hindi makaaapekto sa integridad ng eleksiyon sa Mayo 9 ang pakikialam ng mga hacker sa voter database ng Commission on Elections (Comelec).
“There is a very strong assurance this leak will not affect the integrity of our elections,” sinabi ni Caparas sa press conference sa Department of Justice (DoJ) nitong Martes.
Ito ang naging pagtitiyak ni Caparas makaraang makipagpulong siya at ang iba pang mga opisyal ng DoJ sa mga opisyal ng Comelec kaugnay ng leak.
Sinabi ng kalihim na ang DoJ has convened “a multi-agency meeting to address the concerns that arose from the Comelec leak.”

Nakipagpulong na rin ang DoJ sa Information and Communication Technology Office (ICTO) kaugnay ng insidente, bagamat tumanggi si Caparas na idetalye ang mga napag-usapan.
“Our job right now is to take a look at the extent ofthe compromise of data that resulted and to find out how we could minimize the ill effects of that,” ani Caparas.
Sa kabila nito, pinayuhan pa rin ng kalihim ang publiko na manatiling mapagmatyag at iulat sa awtoridad ang anumang insidente ng cyber crime. (Jeffrey C. Damicog)
