Binigyang-diin ng mga mambabatas ng administrasyon ang pangangailangan na muling buksan ang imbestigasyon ng Senado sa engkuwentro sa Mamasapano upang makumpleto at ma-validate ang findings ng Philippine National Police-Board of Inquiry (PNP-BOI).

“We must admit that the PNP had its limitations with BOI, having no subpoena powers. But they did what they should despite those limitations,” sabi ni Magdalo Party-list Rep. Ashley Acedillo.

“So hayaan nating punan ng Senado, DOJ (Department of Justice) at kami sana sa Kamara ang mga ‘di pa nasasagot ng BOI report. Dapat ipagpatuloy ang Mamasapano hearing sa Kamara,” ani Acedillo.

Sinabi ni Acedillo na ang “credible” na BOI report na isinapubliko nitong Biyernes ay nagdala sa mga kongresista “nearer the truth”, ngunit iginiit na matatamo lang ang hustisya para sa 44 na operatiba ng Special Action Force (SAF) na namatay sa nasabing sagupaan kung mapapanagot ang mga opisyal ng gobyerno at mismong ang mga rebelde na responsable sa palpak na operasyon.

Matatandaang nakaengkuwentro ng SAF ang mga miyembro ng Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) at Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) sa engkuwentro sa Maguindanao noong Enero 25.

“The House investigation must continue to cover the gaps of BOI,” sang-ayon ng isa pang kinatawan ng Magdalo sa Kongreso na si Rep. Gary Alejano, na inilarawan ang 130-pahinang report bilang “fairly objective”.

“The PNP BOI report is a fairly objective report. Certainly it has limitations as other important infos were not obtained from personalities from MILF and the forensics of the cellphones of President Benigno Aquino III, (former PNP chief Alan) Purisima, (Armed Forces chief General Gregorio Pio) Catapang and (Lt. Gen. Rustico) Guerero which would have completed the picture of their SMS exchanges on January 25,” ani Alejano. - Ellson A. Quismorio
