Mariing inalmahan at tinawag na “palusot” ng Akbayan Partylist ang pagdedeklara ni Vice President Sara Duterte sa kaniyang opisyal na pagtakbo bilang Pangulo ng Pilipinas sa susunod na halalan.

Ayon sa inilabas na pahayag ng Akbayan sa kanilang Facebook page nitong Miyerkules, Pebrero 18, 2026, sinabi nilang wala raw nagulat sa nasabing anunsyo ni VP Sara at idiniin nilang tila paraan lang daw ng pag-iwas sa hustisya ng pamilyang Duterte ang paghahangad ng mga itong mahalal bilang Pangulo.
“No one is surprised. Vice President Sara Duterte’s declaration of her 2028 presidential bid is nothing new. Time and again, we have said that seeking the presidency is one of her family’s paths to evade calls for justice and accountability, particularly for the alleged extrajudicial killings and plunder that they are accused of,” pagsisimula nila.

Anila, pinapatunayan raw iyon ng nagkataong pag-aanunsyo ni VP Sara sa kaniyang pagtakbo bilang Pangulo dahil sa nakatakdang pagdinig ng Kamara sa impeachment complaints laban sa kaniya at napipintong paglilitis ng International Criminal Court (ICC) sa kasong kinakaharap ng kaniyang amang si dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
“Yet the timing of her announcement is telling. It comes just days before the House of Representatives is set to hold committee hearings on new impeachment complaints against her, and as the International Criminal Court (ICC) prepares to examine charges against her father, Rodrigo Duterte,” saad nila.
Anang Akbayan, tila bagong uri ng “palusot” ang naturang deklarasyon ni VP Sara upang malihis umano ang atensyon ng publiko.
“Afraid obviously to face the serious charges, she and her family desperately hope to frame them as mere political attacks meant to derail their political ambitions. Sara’s presidential declaration is, in effect, a new ‘palusot,’ an excuse to distract and divert the public,” diin nila.
Nagawa namang manawagan ng Akbayan sa taumbayan na huwag daw hayaang ma-distract sila sa mga nangyayari.
“We urge the Filipino people not to be distracted or misled. The pursuit of truth, justice, and accountability must not be overshadowed by the ambitions of the accused. Akbayan Party endorsed the impeachment complaints to ensure that all evidence is brought to light and that the nation can reach the truth,” ‘ika nila.
“Every Filipino who meets the legal qualifications has the right to run for the presidency, just as every Filipino has the right to know the full truth behind the serious accusations facing someone presenting herself as the country’s next leader,” pagtatapos pa nila.
Samantala, habang sinusulat ito, wala pa namang inilalabas na tugon, reaksyon, o pahayag si VP Sara kaugnay rito.
