Isiniwalat ni Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray ang tunay na dahilan kung bakit sila ay naghiwalay ng aktor at ex-boyfriend niyang si Sam Milby.
Sa pakikipanayam ni Catriona sa broadcast journalist na si Karen Davila noong Huwebes, Pebrero 12, inamin niyang masakit para sa kaniya nang mapag-alaman niyang hindi pa pala handa sa “stage of commitment” si Sam.
“There was a point in our relationship where I think he just realized that he wasn’t ready to take it to the stage of commitment that we thought we were on [because he] proposed, and then a few months later realized that hindi pala siya ready,” saad ni Catriona.
Giit niya, “So that was really hurtful for me, and I was really blindsided at that time. I really tried to make it work, and I was willing to adjust ‘cause when you love someone, you’re willing to understand them. Pero it got to a point na at that age and what we’ve been through, kung hindi ka pa rin sure, I think that’s an answer already.”
Pag-amin pa ng beauty queen-actress, isa raw iyon sa pinakamahirap na bagay na ginawa niya—ngunit napagtanto niyang ito ay kinakailangan niyang gawin.
“It was one of the hardest things to do, but I realised that I needed to choose myself in that moment—‘cause I had already given so much and trying to adjust, ako maggi-give dito. It’s okay, I’ll be understanding,” anang beauty queen-actress.
Bilang babae, inihayag din ni Catriona ang kagustuhan niyang magkaroon ng pamilya at maging isang ganap na ina.
“And I don’t look down on myself at that moment ‘cause I did it because I love the person, ‘no. Pero at the end of the day, like if it’s not a relationship that is giving two-way… and also as a woman, I wanna have a family, like I wanna get married. I love to be a mom one day, and so I really want a partner who values me and sees that future with me, too,” aniya.
Matatandaang isinapubliko ng dalawa ang kanilang engagement noong Pebrero 2023, samantalang naiulat naman ang kanilang hiwalayan noong taong 2025.
