Isinapubliko ni Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III ang tila pagkadismaya niya kaugnay sa naging desisyong “with finality” ng Korte Suprema sa pagbabasura ng apelang motion for reconsideration ng Kamara kaugnay sa impeachment complaint laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.

Ayon sa naging pahayag ni Sotto noong Huwebes, Enero 29, 2026, sinabi niyang malungkot na araw daw ang pangyayaring iyon para sa Constitutional Law, mga propesor, at mag-aaral ng abogasya. 

“It is a sad day for Constitutional Law students and professors,” pagsisimula niya.

Dagdag pa niya, “The Constitution had just been amended unconstitutionally through Supreme Court overreach. It will take decades of retirements to correct this misinterpretation. When the law is clear, there is nothing to interpret, as any first year law student knows.” 

Ani Sotto, malinaw daw na judicial legislation ang naging desisyon ng Korte Suprema at tahasan paglalatag ng pangangailangan ng isang panuntunang dapat sundin ng Kongreso sa pagsasagawa ng impeachment. 

Diin pa ni Sotto, panghihimasok (encroachment) daw iyon sa kapangyarihan ng Legislative branch, alinsunod na rin sa Konstitusyon. 

“The decision is a clear judicial legislation. The SC, as written in their decision, admitted of introducing a rule for Congress to follow in the conduct of impeachment. A clear encroachment on the power of the Legislative branch, as provided for by the Constitution,” aniya. 

Pagpapatuloy pa niya, isa na raw ngayong pangarap na lang ang impeachment. 

“Impeachment is now an impossible dream!” pagtatapos ni Sotto. 

Matatandaang hindi tinanggap ng Supreme Court (SC) En Banc ang Motion for Reconsideration na inihain ng House of the Representatives na naglalayong i-reverse ang nauna na nilang desisyon noong Hulyo 25, 2025 na “unconstitutional” ang impeachment complaint laban kay VP Sara Duterte noon ding Huwebes, Enero 29, 2026.

Dahil dito, wala na raw silang tatanggapin pang bagong mosyon o pleading ang Korte Suprema kaugnay sa nasabing impeachment complaint laban kay VP Sara.
