Ipinagmalaki ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., ang pagkakadiskubre ng natural gas mula sa Malampaya field na tinawag na “Malampaya East” o “MAE 1.”
Ayon sa video statement na inupload ng Pangulo sa kaniyang Facebook account nitong Lunes, Enero 19, inanunsyo niya ang pagkakadiskubre ng aabot sa 98 bilyong cubic feet ng natural gas sa Malampaya field.
“I am pleased to inform everyone that for the first time in over a decade a significant natural gas discovery has been made,” pagsisimula niya.
Paliwanag pa niya, “The discovered reservoir called the ‘Malampaya East 1’ or ‘MAE 1’ is located five kilometers east in the existing Malapaya Field. The ‘MAE 1’ is estimated to contain around 98 billion cubic feet of gas in place.”

Ani PBBM, maaari itong mag-supply ng aabot sa 14 bilyong kilowatt hour na kuryente sa bansa sa loob ng isang taon at magsustente sa mahigit 5.7 milyong kabayan, 9,500 mga gusali, at mahigit 200,000 na mga paaralan sa bansa.
“Katumbas nito ang halos 14 na bilyong kilowatt hour ng kuryente sa isang taon. Ibig sabihin, makakapag-supply ito ng kuryente sa mahigit 5.7 milyon na milyong kabahayan, 9,500 na gusali, o halos 200,000 na paaralan sa loob ng isang taon,” aniya.
Dagdag pa niya, “This helps Malampaya contribute and strengthens our domestic gas supply for many years to come.”
Anang Pangulo, may potensyal daw na makapagbigay ng mas maraming energy power sa bansa ang MAE 1 kumpara sa iba pang mga orihinal na Malampaya well.
“Initial testing showed that the well-flowed at 60 million cubic feet per day. This indicate that the well has the potential to produce even more, confirming it is a high productivity resource comparable to the original Malampaya wells,” pagbibida niya.
Pagpapatuloy ni PBBM, bukod sa natural gas, nadiskubre rin sa nasabing MAE 1 ang high value liquid fuel na makakatulong din para sa bansa sa susunod na mga taon.
“Aside from the natural gas, the discovery also includes condensate which is a high value liquid fuel,” ‘ika niya.
“This additional resource can help support the government efforts for the stabilization of our power supply,” diin pa ng Pangulo.
