Ibinahagi sa publiko ng Office of the Ombudsman na hindi nila nahingi kay Batangas 1st District Rep. Leandro Leviste ang umano’y buong set ng listahan ni dating Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Usec. Catalina Cabral.

Ayon sa naging video statement ni Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano nitong Lunes, Disyembre 29, sinabi niyang lumapit sila kay Leviste matapos pumanaw ni Cabral para tingnan ang umano’y listahang hawak nito.

“After Congressman Leandro Leviste publicly claimed to possess the complete list in the supposed ‘Cabral Files,’ investigators from the Office of the Ombudsman approached him as a matter of prudence and diligence while the former Undersecretary Cathy Cabral was still alive and was actually representative by the counsel at the time,” kuwento niya.

Ani Clavano, limitado lamang ng mga pangalan ang ipinakita sa kanila ni Leviste.

“During this engagement, Congressman Leviste presented only limited portions of the list,” aniya.

Pagpapatuloy ni Clavano, nag-utos na rin daw sila sa kongresista ngunit hindi nito ipinakita ang buong set ng “Cabral Files.”

“Responsive to specific inquiries, but he did not present the entire set of files he claimed to possess even when asked to do so,” diin niya.

Dahil umano rito, binali ni Clavano ang naging pahayag umano noon ni Leviste sa publiko na nakita na ng tanggapan ng Ombudsman ang buong set ng mga listahan ni Cabral.

“This will differ from the congressman’s public statements suggesting that the full Cabral files had already been shown to or reviewed by the Office of the Ombudsman,” pagtatapos pa niya.

Samantala sa parehong video, nauna na ring linawin ni Clavano na mayroon na ng ibang lumapit sa kanila upang magpakita ng mga “Cabral Files” bukod kay Leviste.

“The Office of the Ombudsman has actually been approached by multiple sources claiming to possess copies of the supposed ‘Cabral Files,’” ani Clavano.

Dagdag pa niya, “These claims underscore and really highlight the importance of distinguishing between original evidence and secondary or third party copies on the other hand.”

Idiniin din niyang nawawala raw ang “evidentiary credibility” ng isang ebidensya o dokumento kung dumaan na ito sa mga pormat ng Word o Excel dahil maaari raw na manipulahin o baguhin ang naturang ebidensya sa isang kaso.
